On the flip side, increased exposure to banking services combined with a global economic slowdown in 2023 led to increased non-performing loan ratio (from 2.03 in 2022 to 4.55 in 2023) against the backdrop of diminished demand for loans. Similarly concerning, while non-cash transactions grew by 20% to 25% annually, according to government estimates, only 6% of the population had credit cards in 2023.
