Vietnam Food and Beverage Sector Report 2024-2025

The agricultural foundation of Vietnam's food and beverage (F&B) industry is very strong given the fact that the country is among the world's largest food producers and a top 20 food exporter. The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) predicts that the annual consumption of food and beverage (F&B) products will continue to grow in the medium term driven by a growing population, rising disposable incomes and a tourism industry that is rapidly gaining momentum. Despite waning global demand and weak consumer confidence in 2023, Vietnam's food and beverage sector saw robust growth, expanding by 11.47% y/y to reach VND 590tn (USD 23.6bn), according to VNEconomy. More than 80% of F&B businesses canvassed by iPOS Vietnam and Vietnamese business analysis provider VIRAC in 2023 shared an optimistic outlook for the development of the sector and confirmed they have the capacity for future expansion and are currently performing favourably. The dine-in segment had an especially strong performance in 2023 as public life returned to normal after the lifting of the pandemic-related restrictions. In the same study, nearly 15% of participants stated they were ready to spend more than VND 100,000 (USD 4) on dinner daily. For comparison, in 2022 the number of participants in this category was 3.5 times smaller.
