AES Alicura is a hydroelectric plant with a total installed capacity of 1,050 MW, located in the Province of Neuquen on the Limay River. The Company acquired the AES Alicura power plant in August 2000 by acquiring from Southern Energy Inc. the rights to the concession that expires in July 2023. The Argentine Government began construction of the Alicura dam in 1979 and six years later in 1985, began its commercial operation. The main functions of the dam of Alicura are the regulation of the flow of the river Limay and the generation of electricity. Alicura has a reservoir of 3,215 Cubic hectoliters (Hm3), which is fed by the contributions of the Limay river with an average historical value of 268 cubic meters per second (m3 / sec). The generation plant has four Francis turbines of 262.5 MW manufactured by Allis Chalmers-Toshiba and four 280 MVA electric generators manufactured by Toshiba.
