STS Holding Group, which was established in 1990 by four local businessmen, initially focused its activities in the field of industrial electronics.
The company, based in the central town of Gabrovo, was transformed into a holding company in 1998.
It controls companies from the furniture, trade, transport, meat processing, water bottling and other industries.
In 1991-94, the company conducted trade in industrial and electronics equipment, cosmetics as well as agricultural products with companies from the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine.
In 1995, the company set foot in the cosmetics production business by opening a shampoo production facility.
In the next year, the company launched a toothpaste production facility, which has a monthly capacity of 10 million units.
In 1997, STS Holding Group opened a hair dye plant and a year later started production of packages for the cosmetics and foods industries.
In 2005, the company produced an average of 7.0 million toothpastes a month.
