The Zagreb-based Bc Institute for breeding and production of field crops was established in 1897. It underwent several name changes before taking its present name in 1961. The company is the largest institution for field crops breeding in Croatia. The institute is specialized in grafting and growing of grains and other crops, as well as research and development of new hybrids of plants.
Its product range includes maize, wheat, barley, oats, triticale, forage crops and soybeans.
In 1997 the Zagreb Bc Institute turned into a joint-stock company and was registered as a scientific and research organization.
