Mirna d.d. is a company located in Rovinj, Croatia. It was founded in 1877 during a time when Rovinj was the largest and most developed city in Istria and a major maritime center. Fishing was a significant source of livelihood for the local population, and Mirna played a role in the history of the global fish canning industry, being one of the first companies of its kind in the world. The development of fish processing in Rovinj is associated with the Parisian company "Societe Generale Francaise de Conserves alimentaires" and the year 1877, when the first heat-sterilized cans were produced. In March 1994, Mirna d.d. Rovinj was registered as a business system for fishing, fish processing, and fish products trade by the Commercial Court in Rijeka. The factory is currently located at Giordano Paliaga 18, Rovinj, and employs 150 workers in the production and processing of fish and fish products. The entire factory complex covers an area of 60,000 square meters, situated directly by the sea, ensuring the high-quality reception of the primary raw material - blue fish. The annual catch of blue fish from the Adriatic Sea amounts to approximately 3,500 tons. Mirna's product range is based on canned products such as sardines, mackerel, tuna, fish pâtés, fish salads, and fish spreads. The company has the potential to develop new product lines based on its long-standing tradition, expertise in fish production and processing, and proximity to the source of raw materials.
