Middle East Bank, also referred to as MEB, is an Iranian credit institution headquartered in the city of Tehran. It was incorporated and licensed by Iran’s Central Bank in 2012. MEB, whose popular name is and Khavarmianeh Bank operates primarily as a wholesale bank, focusing on corporate clients and specialized credit solutions. It offers regular banking services and e-banking, in addition to distant banking for the institutional customers, where a bank representative goes to the customer’s location to service the customer. Besides Tehran, the bank’s branches are located in Tabriz, Isfahan, Shiraz and Mashhad. MEB subsidiaries are active in the field of brokerage, currency exchange, life and non-life insurance. Its shares were listed on Tehran Stock Exchange in March 2015. MEB, like all Iranian banks, operate under the principles of Islamic Sharia law, which bans the charge and payment of interest.
