Stopanska Banka Skopje was established in 1944. In 1990, the bank was transformed into a joint-stock company and its main shareholders included state-run firms, such as the power company, railway, post office and various state funds.
In April 2000 National Bank of Greece acquired 68.4% of Stopanska Banka for EUR 60 million. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) also agreed to pay EUR 9.2 million for stakes of 10.5% each.
In August 2010, the National Bank of Greece acquired an additional 21.32% stake in the Macedonian bank from EBRD and the IFC at the amount of EUR 34.93 million.
Stopanska Banka offers retail and commercial banking, investment management, brokerage, and wholesale banking products and services. The Skopje-based lender operates banking network that consists of over 60 branches in major Macedonian cities.
