J.P. Morgan Financial Group S.A. de C.V. was authorized in November 1994 by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) to establish a financial group in Mexico, including a bank and a brokerage house and along with them to provide wholesale banking services, investment banking, financial portfolio analysis and consulting services. Later, in April 17, 2001 SHCP authorized the merger of Chase Grupo Financiero, as the absorbing firm with JP Morgan Grupo Financiero. The Merger took place on May 31, 2001 and the social denomination was modified to JP Morgan Grupo Financiero, S.A. de C.V. It is headquartered in the City of Mexico.
