The Bank, which commenced operation on 21 July 1998, is the first commercial bank in the country to be capitalized at NPR 500 million. The Bank was promoted by some of the prominent business houses of the country. The current shareholding pattern of the Bank constitutes of promoters holding 65 and general public holding 35 . NIC Bank is one of the most widely held banking companies in Nepal with close to 35,000 shareholders. The shares of the Bank are actively traded in Nepal Stock Exchange with current market capitalization of about NPR 2,976 Million.
The Bank has created history in the annals of Nepalese financial landscape by forming ourselves through a first of its kind merger between two commercial banks operating successfully in the country. The Bank has been formed through the merger of NIC Bank and Bank of Asia Nepal on 30th June 2013. Accordingly, the Bank s name changed to NIC Asia Bank.
