The Raiffeisen Banca pentru Locuinte SA started to operate in june 2004 as Romania´s first building society. RBL was founded from the association of Raiffeisen Bank SA - Romania, Raiffeisen Bausparkasse GmbH - Austria and Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG - Germany. The shareholders of the bank are Raiffeisen Bausparkasse Austria with 33.35%, Raiffeisen Bank Romania and Schwäebisch Hall-Germany with 33.324% stake in it. National Bank of Romania has approved the merger between Raiffeisen Banca pentru Locuinte and HVB Banca pentru Locuinte, beginning with December 1st 2009, the whole process of the merger will end at the end of the first quarter of 2010. The initial share capital was 15 million, now reaching a value of 131 074 560 Lei.
