Akfen Holding Anonim Sirketi, located in Ankara, is a company that was founded in 1976 under the name Akınısı A.Ş. Akfen. It initially focused on engineering projects and housing constructions. In 1986, the company expanded its activities with the establishment of Akfen İnşaat and became one of the leading infrastructure groups in Turkey. In 1997, Akfen obtained Holding status and played a key role in establishing Tepe Group and TAV Airports. TAV Airports, established in 1997, quickly undertook contracts for Istanbul Airport and Ankara Esenboğa Airport under the Build-Operate-Transfer model. TAV expanded its operations internationally and became a prominent airport brand. Akfen also ventured into the maritime industry. In 2003, it won the Kusadasi Passenger Port concession and later secured the operating tender for Mersin Port in 2005. Additionally, Akfen took over the operation of Istanbul Sea Buses (IDO) in 2011. The company also entered the vehicle inspection station sector by establishing TÜVTÜRK in 2005. Akfen partnered with the Accor Group in 2007 to enter the city hotel business and established hotels in Turkey and Russia under the Novotel & Ibis Hotel brands. Akfen has been actively involved in renewable energy since 2011, acquiring hydroelectric and solar power plants in Turkey. It has become a significant player in clean energy production from sources such as sun, wind, and water. In the field of healthcare, Akfen has participated in the development of City Hospitals through the Public Private Partnership model. It successfully completed the Isparta City Hospitals in 2017, Eskişehir in 2018, and Tekirdağ City Hospitals in 2020. Akfen Environment and Water, established in 2008, specializes in water, wastewater, and solid waste investments. The company provides investment, financing, engineering, and business solutions tailored to the needs of public and private sector customers. Akfen Holding has formed partnerships with various domestic and foreign companies, contributing to employment, quality, and foreign currency inflow to Turkey.
