Shell commenced operations in Venezuela at the beginning of the 20th century. The first commercial oil well was perforated in 1914. Since 1993, the company has been operating the Urdaneta West field, together with Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA). Currently, Shell has a lubricant production facility located in Valencia, department of Carabobo. The company's main activities are exploration, extraction and production of crude oil and oil derivatives, as well as lubricants.
