Sberbank AD Bosnia began operations in 1999 under the name Zepter Komerc Banka. It operated as a local subsidiary of Swiss Zepter International - a consumer goods, banking and insurance group. In July 2007, Austria-based Volksbank Intrernational bought Zepter Komerc Banka for KM 82 million (EUR 42 million) in the biggest acquisition in the banking sector of the Republic of Srpska up to that moment. The bank continued operations under the name Volksbank Banja Luka. In 2012 Russia's Sberbank acquired the Bosnian lender and renamed it to Sberbank AD. Sberbank AD has a network of some 20 branches nationwide.
