BBVA México, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, Grupo Financiero, is the largest financial institution in Mexico, with a market share of approximately 26.7% as of 2024. The company was originally founded in 1932 as Banco de Comercio (Bancomer) and has undergone several transformations, including nationalization in 1982 and privatization in 1991. In 2000, the Spanish bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) acquired Bancomer, eventually rebranding it as BBVA México in 2019 as part of a global brand unification.
