Empresas Almacenes Paris is the second largest department store chain in the country. The company works through subsidiaries and affiliates. Almacenes Paris sells mens and womens clothing, housewares and other items, as well as providing customers with credit. The company has stores in high-traffic areas (principally malls). It also participates in real estate investment, development, mall properties, insurance brokerage, travel agencies, and industrial production of furniture. On september 1st, 2005 Cencosud and Empresas Almacenes Paris shareholders meeting approved the merger between both companies. Empresas Almacenes Paris was absorbed by Cencosud.
