Sierra Gorda Sociedad Contractual Minera (Chile)

Sierra Gorda Sociedad Contractual Minera is a company whose main business is the exploitation, extraction, treatment, profit and commercialization of mining products, its main asset being the "Sierra Gorda" mining project with an investment that includes a contribution of capital, working capital , interest during construction and costs already incurred, for a total amount of approximately US $ 5.7 billion. The Sierra Gorda mining operation is located in the Atacama Desert, in northern Chile, in the Sierra Gorda district, Antofagasta Region, Antofagasta Province. The main product of extraction of Sierra Gorda is the concentrate of copper. Additionally, molybdenum, gold and silver (as concentrate and by-product constituent of copper concentrate, respectively) are produced. The plant has an initial processing capacity of 110,000 metric tons per day. It is expected to expand production to at least 190,000 metric tons per day by the beginning of 2020.
